Most colleges & universities do work on your fundamental knowledge but leave a lot to be desired when you compare it with what are skills needed at an employers place. They have little connect with the industry and their programs are outdated. This is true even for professional courses such as engineering and management programs.
Employers pay handsome salaries today and expect to deploy their employees productively. In these times of job hopping, employers are reluctant to invest in the training of new employees and look for job ready resources.
What to do?
Find out the skills employers look for the career of your choice.Map it with skills you already have and the ones that you need to brush or add.Make a plan to acquire these, seek guidance and formal training – get job ready while u study and the industry will be waiting for you with open arms fat salary package on the other side of the river. If you get it right, it will even guide you to a smooth bridge to cross over.
CAUTION: Beware of those who may mislead you, push you in the river, force you to swim in cold waters and when u come out at the other end of the river, you are on a barren land and no fortunes await you.
